I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #151, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/20 and 09/27.

The collection is back to its normal, weekly release and thus offers a short, yet mostly very delightful, list of projects. Enjoy! :)

I will start with the Good Strong Hands RPG, which offers a dark game with whimsical elements. The name is inspired by the heart wrenching scene of the Neverending Story and the setting premise does somewhat follow the book/movie as the players try to save the world of Reverie from the destructive „Void“. Thus the stories focus on friendship, teamwork, dangerous forces and handling a world in crisis. The world of Reverie is created by the players in a group effort, as it is a world of imagination. The system offers gamebooks and a d6 pool system. I feel very tempted to back it, and recommend you take a look. I am as well enticed to back the 2nd edition of Kingdom. The game, by renowned game designer Ben Robbins, has you forming a community ~ well the titular kingdom ~ and explore what happens to it. The concept is cool, and you can be quite sure Ben delivers. Fans of genre pieces like Indiana Jones, the Mummy, Uncharted & co. should have at Broken Compass. The game has already funded, and created an Italian edition, and now its up to get the books out in English. You can check out the quickstart rules, and I do love that the core book is presented in a notebook/journal style book. Which is, why I do consider backing it, while not being that much interested in the genre. Which is cool too. It helps, that the game looks great. If you are looking for a new system, along with settings, you should check out Epic! Game System: Realms of Mana and Stars of Mana. The system is promised to be brand new, and will be available under an OGL like license. Next to that you’ll get a fantasy setting in Realms of Mana and a science fiction sandbox setting in Stars of Mana. A nice project, that does appear to have a lot of work being done at..
The times of corona, might have you looking for another journaling rpg, in which case Down the Old Rail Line has you covered. It’s a small, charming, PDF only game, in which you take a bicycle trip through a fantasy world and note down the foreign landscape and events. Next to being nice, it is at a rather low price bar.
Fans of game books, should check out the Arkham Archives, which explore the works and settings of Lovecraft. The project offers the first part of a five part series. Next to a book, you’ll get a stylish deck of cards, which got me hooked, especially at ‚just‘ 15€. Take a look.
There are other cool projects, like the The Wagadu Chronicles. Next to a nice, isometric afrofantasy MMO, it offers a D&D 5E setting book to go along with it. I did join the nice project from a game dev studio in Berlin (Germany) and recommend you have a look. If you wonder how to put more Dragons into your D&D game, checkout The Cosmic Dragon Breviary: A Draconic Compendium – it gets you a lot of draconic stuff. Though if you up for an adventure, pardon an incursion, for the Trophy RPG, take a look at Alchemy. Then there are Ice Dice, offering you a mold to create ice dice, to keep your drinks cool. The Amazing Fireball Dice on the other hand ain’t to hot to game, and look great. There is a deck of card like the Itemancy Cards for D&D or a soundscapelike Winter RPG Adventure.

Es gibt eine frische Crowdfunding Kurzübersicht #151 (Zeitraum: 20.09 bis 27.09).

Die Kurzübersicht diese Woche ist zurück im normalen Rythmus, und mit einer überschaubaren Anzahl größtenteils echt cooler Projekte. Geniest sie! :)

Zunächst gibt es mit dem Good Strong Hands RPG ein düsteres, dennoch durchaus leichtes, phantastisches Rollenspiel. Wie der Name, der sich an die Unendliche Geschichte anlehnt, bereits andeutet, versucht man die Welt von Reverie von dem zerstörischen Wirken der „Void“ (Leere) zu bewahren. Womit sich die Geschichten um Freundschaft, Zusammenarbeit sowie dem Umgang mit einer Welt in einer Krise sowie gefährlichen Kräften widmet. Die Welt von „Reverie“, gestalten die Spielgruppen hierbei gemeinsam selbst. Das System wiederum arbeitet mit Playbooks sowie einem W6 Poolsystem. Ich bin durchweg versucht, und empfehle daher das Spiel. Ein weiteres Projekt, das mich stark versucht, ist die 2. Edition von Kingdom. Hierbei erstellt man gemeinsam, mit seiner Gruppe, eine Gemeinschaft, respektive ein Königreich, und schaut dann wie es sich entwickelt. Ben Robbins ist Kickstarter erfahren, und seine Spiele sind durchweg cool. Schaut es Euch an! Wer gerne ein Rollenspiel rund um Abenteuer ala Indiana Jones, Uncharted & Co haben mag, muss sich Broken Compass anschauen. Das Spiel wurde bereits auf Italienisch finanziert sowie produziert, und mit dem Projekt wird es eine Englische Fassung geben. Man kann sich die Schnellstarter Regeln anschauen, und der Umstand, dass das GRW als fettes Notizbuch daher kommt ist super cool. Auch hier bin ich mehr als üblich versucht. Auch weil ich Notizbücher liebe. Daneben gibt es mit dem Epic! Game System: Realms of Mana and Stars of Mana ein nagelneues System nebst einem Setting. Während das grundlegende System kostenlos wird, erhält es mit Realms of Mana ein Fantasy und mit Stars of Mana ein Science Fiction Setting. Ein nettes Projekt wie mir scheint, in dem viel Handarbeit steckt.
Wer in den Zeiten von Corona nach einem Tagebuch-(Rollen-)Spiel sucht, sollte sich Down the Old Rail Line ansehen. In diesem kleinen, sehr charmanten Spiel, schreibt man die Eindrücke aus einer Fantasywelt sowie eigenen Erlebnisse wieder, die man während einer Fahrradtour durch diese so mitnimmt. Das Spiel gibt es nur als PDF, dafür ist es jedoch super günstig zu haben.
Fans von Spielbüchern bekommen wiederum mit den Arkham Archives ein solches zu den Werken Lovecrafts geboten. Zumindest den ersten Teil von fünfen. Wobei das Projekt neben dem Buch noch gleich ein stylisches Kartenset bietet, womit neben den Entscheidungen die man selbst trifft, auch das Schicksal zu Wort kommt. Cool! Und mit 15€ sehr fair bepreist. Bin dabei.
Daneben gibt es viele weitere coole Projekte. Wie The Wagadu Chronicles, welches nicht nur ein sehr fesches isometrisches Afrofantasy MMO bietet, sondern auch ein D&D 5E kompatibles Rollenspiel Setting! Ich bin bei dem sympathischen Projekt aus Berlin dabei, und empfehle es. Mit Bänden wie The Cosmic Dragon Breviary: A Draconic Compendium, kann man seine D&D Runde um mehr Drachen-Kreaturen & Dinge bereichern. Wohingegen Alchemy eine Incursion, also platt gesagt Abenteuer, für das Trophy RPG bietet. Mit den Ice Dice, erhält man eine Form, um sich selbst Eiswürfel zu machen und in Getränke schütten, wohingegen man besser die Amazing Fireball Dice zum spielen nimmt. Es gibt neben den Itemancy Cards für D&D, sowie den Winter RPG Adventure Soundscape, noch viele, viele interessante Projekte. Ihr findet diese hier:

Crowdfunding Collection #150

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #150, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/31 and 09/20.

Following some personal challenges and the godawfulm bad new WordPress editor, I am back with none fewer than round about 100 new rpg projects. Let’s get to them.

I personally took a fancy to the game Brinkwood: The Blood of Tyrants. The game puts you in the role of human hunters, who with the help of Fae, take actions against undead, vampiric tyrants who are a blight upon humanity. The castlepunk setting is intruiging and I do like the Forged in the Dark system, which is why I backed the project enthusiastically. Take a look for yourself. If you like to design the setting you’ll be playing in yourself, you might want to check out The BOLT RPG. Upon backing the project, you’ll be getting access to a prelimary version of the rules. The Best Left Buried rules light rpg offers a preset fantasy horror game, with rules that seem rather unobstrusive. Maybe you are interested in the American Revolutionary War, and having an OSR game set in it? In this case Freedom Flag should be right up your ally whereas Laser Ponies offers a fun game for the whole family.
There are as well some games, with rather contemplative topics, for example Hero Too: Super Edition. Which addresses messy trans experience with an added challenge by being superhero powered. It uses the ARMOR system. Providing a solo-game experience in which you do some journaling. Sounds cool & I would recommend having a look as it needs more support. Epitaph on the otherhand is a GM-less game that explores the life of a person after they passed on. Which is as intruiging a topic, as it is ~ in my opinion, somewhat heavy. I still recommend having a look.
There are of course quite some fantasy ttrpgs as well. For example the 3rd edition of Open Quests, which offers an update to the d100 system game. Then there is Darkest Days, which took the radical-Christian comics as inspiration to create the game, that tries to spread ttrpg as much as possible. Cool. If you like a d20 game, check out Fires of Athelen. It highlights the realistic system based around locations and a cool approach to sorcery. Next to looking nicely. Fans of Monte Cook should check out the Diamond Throne RPG. It provides you with the titular setting and realizes it with the Cypher System. Then there’s .dungeon, which bridges science fiction and fantasy by offering a Shinsekai setting. Thus you play in a fantasy world of an MMO – essentially a setting within a setting.
Thus, bridging over to SciFi games, Light Strikers is a game inspired by anima and Saturday morning cartoons. I feel that Heavenscape: Exordia sports a similar colorful universe, or rather multiverse, despite the project being black and white. It does use „normal“ dice from d4 up to d100. The same as the ttrpg Planetbound does, which calls its system EDGE (Every Dice Gets Exercise). The characters end up stranded on one planet, coming from various universes. It looks interesting, and is funded, just take a look.
If you like cardbased games, check out Wretched. The game in zine form, has a science fiction setting, and appears to be somewhat close to the horror of Alien and similar works. Then there’s Parselings, a setting that combines near future with fantasy element. It has an interesting presentation and while it is played with cards, the GM might roll dice. Last but not least there is Atma, a card based rpg in a box, which offers fun 2 hour sessions. From the looks of it, it combines superhero elements with near future aspects.
Then there are some games that are either hybrids or storygames, that I still think do fit. Like The Sickened, in which you curse people with illnesses and try to save your own. FUTURES is a storybased, narrative game about imagining a better, well, future. Then there’s Everbane, a card game with some rpg elements.
There are of course plenty more noteworthy elements, like the Into the Dark zine with a lot of tipps and advice. Scion: Demigod does offer a 3rd setting for the Scion universe, in which the player play half gods on their way to full godlyness. There are really cool sets like the Fancy Pride Stone Dice or the Handcrafted Sharp Edged Dice. The Spellbound GM Screen looks really fancy, and I could not resist the Reckless Deck: PSYCHE set of cards. They are a brilliant tool for (N)PC creation, and I highly recommend the project. There are nice notebooks like the Refillable Leather Notebooks For Gamers & Geeks and soundscape for Vampire and Victorian Gothic Horror.

Es gibt eine frische Crowdfunding Kurzübersicht #150 (Zeitraum: 31.08 bis 20.09).

Nach persönlichen Herausforderungen und Probleme mit dem neuen, schlechten WordPress Editor, melde ich mich zurück mit nicht weniger als 100 neuen Rollenspiel Projekten. Lasst es uns angehen,..

Es gibt hierbei nicht weniger als drei Rollenspiele die auf Deutsch übersetzt werden. So bietet der System Matters Verlag mit Mythos World das PbtA Spiel rund um cthuloiden Horror. Egal ob man Lovecraft Horror allgemein mag, oder durch Lovecraft Country angefixt ist, es lohnt sich anzuschauen. Fans von Fantasy bekommen vom Uhrwerk Verlag RuneQuest geboten. Die Welt ist reich illustriert und das BRP System, welches es nutzt, erprobt. Ebenso erprobt ist die erste Auflage von Traveller – Abenteuer in der Fernen Zukunft. Ulisses hat sich zur Aufgabe gesetzt, eine unveränderte, neue Auflage des Originalspiels zu bieten.

Unter den englischsprachigen Rollenspielen sticht für mich Brinkwood: The Blood of Tyrants heraus. In dem „Castlepunk“-RPG spielt man Jäger, welcher der Vampir-Bourgeois ans untote, ausbeuterische Tyrannen-Leder wollen. Wobei sie übernatürliche Unterstützung von Fae erhalten. Das Spiel verwendet das Forged in the Dark System, und ich bin mit Begeisterung dabei. Wer sein Setting lieber selbst gestalten will, findet mit dem BOLT RPG ein interessantes Spiel. Wobei man mit der Übersetzung den Einblick in die Vorabversion des Spiels erhält. Wer regelleichten Horror mag, sollte einen Blick auf Best Left Buried haben. Das System ist recht leicht, und man findet damit soliden Fantasy-Horror. Wer wiederum sich für amerikanische Geschichte interessiert, und OSR-Spiele macht, sollte ggf. einen Blick auf Freedom Flag haben. Ein Spiel das sich mit dem amerikanischen Unabhängigskeitskrieg beschäftigt. Vielleicht mag man auch ein Spiel für die ganze Familie unterstützen? In dem Fall bietet Laser Ponies ein Spiel für jedermann.
Daneben gibt es Rollenspiele die zur Reflektion verschiedener Themen anregen. So beschäftigt sich Hero Too: Super Edition mit aufregenden bzw. aufreibenden Trans-Erfahrungen, mit einer guten Dosis Superhelden Genre. Es verwendet das ARMOR System, klingt cool und verdient mehr Beachtung. Epitaph wiederum befasst sich mehr mit dem Leben einer Person, und die Wirkung auf andere Menschen die sie hatte, nachdem sie verstarb. Das Thema wurde hierbei durchaus respektvoll umgesetzt, und man kann das Spiel mit 2 bis 5 Spieler, ohne SL spielen.
Fans von Fantasy Spielen werden einige Systeme geboten, so bietet die 3. Edition von Open Quest eine Aktualisierung des W100 System. Darkest Days ist ein neues System, welches sich Anleihen am radikal-christlichen Comic nimmt, allerdings versucht das einfache und zugängliche RPG effektiv unter die Massen zu bringen. Fires of Athelen wiederum ist ein W20 Rollenspiel, das mit einem realistischen System rund um Örtlichkeiten wirbt, und einem coolen Zauberei-System, wobei es noch nett ausschaut. Aus der professionellen Feder von Monte Cook, bekommt man das Diamond Throne RPG, welches das gleichnamige Setting mit dem Cypher System verbindet. .dungeon wiederum greift das Shinsekai Anime Genre auf. Das heißt, die Charaktere bewegen sich durch die Fantasy-Welt eines MMO. Quasi als Setting im Setting.
Womit wir den Übergang zu SF Rollenspielen haben, wie Light Strikers. Ein durch Anime und Samstag-Morgens Cartoons inspiriertes Setting wie System. Ähnlich bunt durch das Universum, respektive in diesem Fall Multiversum, geht es mit Heavenscape: Exordia zu, ein Spiel das die normalen Würfel von W4 bis W100 verwendet. Bei dem Spiel Planetbound stranden Charaktere aus verschiedenen Universen auf einen Planeten, von dem sie versuchen los zu kommen. Als System verwendet man das EDGE System, wobei es für „Every Dice Gets Exercise“ steht. Das Projekt ist schon finanziert, und wirkt ganz nett.
Wer kartenbasierte Rollenspiele mag, sollte einen Blick auf Wretched haben. Ein Science Fiction Rollenspiel in Magazine Form, welches sich scheinbar etwas bei Alien anlehnt. Parselings bietet ein Setting mit leichter Science Fiction und Fantasy Elementen, in einer sehr ansprechenden Präsentation.Wobei die SL durchaus würfeln darf. Nun und mit Atma gibt es ein Rollenkartenspiel, für kurze, 2-stündige Sitzungen. Wobei es vom Setting her in Richtung SF-Superhelden zu gehen scheint.
Es gibt daneben einige Spiele die imho Rollenspielhybride sind. Zumindest scheint mir The Sickened, bei dem man Leute verhext und gesundhext so ein Fall zu sein. FUTURES ist ein geschichtenbasiertes Spiel, bei dem man sich versucht eine bessere Zukunft vorzustellen und Konzepte zu hinterfragen. Wobei Everbane ein rollenspielerisches Kartenspiel bietet.
Es gibt daneben noch viele weitere interessante Projekte, wie das Into the Dark Magazine, mit allerlei Tipps und Hilfestellungen. Mit Scion: Demigod wird das Scion-Universum um den dritten Settingband erweitert, in dem man Halbgötter, in einer Urban Fantasy Umgeung, auf ihrem Weg zur Göttlichkeit spielt. Es gibt coole Würfel Projekte wie die Fancy Pride Stone Würfel oder die handgemachten Sharp Edged Würfel. Der Spellbound GM Screen schaut cool aus. Bei dem Reckless Deck: PSYCHE Kartenset zur (N)SC Gestaltung konnte ich sowas von gar nicht widerstehen! Schaut es euch an. Es gibt coole Notizbücher für die Refillable Leather Notebooks For Gamers & Geeks und Klangwelten wie die Vampire and Victorian Gothic Horror Soundscapes.

Crowdfunding Collection #149

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #149, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/17 and 08/31.

At first I want to point out an original German roleplaying game, that is being funded. After the Moonfall offers a tabletop RPG experience in the world of Tsukuyumi, which you might recognize from the boardgame by the same name. It offers an unique, narrative Story-Tag-System and I would describe the setting as Neon Genesis Evangelion, with quite a dose of Miyazaki; well or maybe one of the end scenarios of X/1999. I think it is cool, and well worth checking out, especially as the creators are considering doing an English edition down the line.

Back to the English game, I will start with the Arium RPG. The game is presented in two zines, one for the creation of the setting (Create), one for exploring the created world (Discover). The system is a rules-light d6 setting, with four attributes and six derived descriptors. If you got a likinging for world  design, check it out. Locus is another game that comes in two A5 books. Though it is more focus on exploring the mysteries of a horror setting and dealing with monsters which are formed from dark aspects of the characters. The system offered is bespoke, allowing for quite some consensual immersion and the funding sponsers the payment of people like sensitive readers. Cool! If you are looking for some straight forward action, maybe take a look at the post-apocalyptic game Residuum. It offers aliens, mutants, survival and more, including quite some options for creating characters and cinematic battles that don’t require hex cards. Though I am a bit confused if it uses d6 (as shown in the video) or d20 (as mentioned in the text).
If you are fans of the Hellboy comics, there is no way around the Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game. Same goes for fans of action oriented urban fantasy settings. You take on the roles of BPRD agents, kicking the ass of various threats to humanity. The game rules are based on the 5th edition of Dungeon & Dragons and should be mostly compatible with the boardgame. I personally got, and like, the boardgame (though it proved a bit complicated without the guidance of someone who knows the rule). If I were a bigger fan of Hellboy, I would grab it, hence I recommend it. If you like manga like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure or videogames like the Persona series, check out Over Arms. You’ll be playing person that possess an „Anima“ and thus got supernatural powers at their hands. The system appears to be quite interessting and it is worth having a look.
Fans of fantasy and celtic lore should take a look at Legends of Avallen. The card base game has you create characters, which aim to become legends in a Roman occupied basically Britain. In a twist to other games you will start as sheperds, smiths, scribes or in a similar mundane profession, as you venture out to meet various cultures, mysteries, the Otherworlds and more. Next to the interesting system and setting it’s quite beautifully illustrated. If you enjoy playing villains as well, check out the second edition of For Coin & Blood! You will play assassines, cult leaders, blackguards, necromants and all kinds of various fiends, trying to achieve their darks schemes. I backed the first edition, I am quite happy with it, and thus consider backing this one too. Check it out for yourself, it is neat. Then there is Forges of Byron, a normal fantasy rpg, with a european base setting. You can form the setting to your liking and the Byron Dice system features special d6.
If you like science fiction games, you should take a look at Orbital. The game that uses the „No Dice, No Masters“ system, has you create a neutral space station within a war torn system, along with a crew who aims to defend their station, The game doesn’t use dice but PbtA style moves, is played without a designated game master, and presents itself in the zine format. I consider it well worth having a look, and checking it out. Just like Lowlife 2090 which induldges in cyberpunk & sorcery. The game has a cool punk style and features a d20 system with „roll low“ and „roll high“ elements. Combat should be short and deadly, given that there are no hitpoint sponges. Plus it has systems for hacking, sorcery, vehicles and everything one may need in a cyberpunk game. All in one book. Take a look, it’s nifty.
Following so many roleplaying games, Edgar Allan Poe – The Horror offers a gamebook, that is based on the poems by the titular poet and captures a rather eerie atmosphere. Very cool, especially with the approach event of Halloween.
There are more projects. Lost Lands: Tehuatl expands the setting by Frog God Games to a mesoamerican area and with A Travellers guide to the Candy Realms you’ll get a truly saccarine D&D 5E setting.
